Courtney was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Nashville, Tennessee where she began dancing at age four and drama at age ten in school, church, and summer acting programs. She attended an arts-based high school in Nashville where theatre became a permanent fixture in her life.
After graduating with highest honors from a prestigious performing arts high school and securing a full tuition offers from three colleges, she left Nashville at age seventeen and attended Hampton University in Virginia where she gradated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Performance Theatre. She began her professional career as an actress in 2010 and has performed in Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and New York.
She is also an avid graphic designer and voiceover artist with a varied portfolio.
She rejoined NCShakes for her third tour with Shakespeare to Go! after a run of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest in Nashville (Nurse Flinn). Other Nashville credits include A Raisin in the Sun (Circle Players) and Once on this Island (Street Theatre Company). Regional credits include: Chicago (Mama Morton), Big River (Alice), and The Sound of Music (Sister Berthe) with Weathervane Playhouse (Newark, OH); Romeo and Juliet (Lady Montague, mainstage/Lady Capulet/Benvolio, STG), Macbeth (Witch/Malcolm, STG), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania/Helena/Quince, STG) with NCShakes. She is currently a teaching artist with The CUNY Creative Arts Team in New York.
